Hi Readers !!
I’m back with my second blog post. This post is a celebration of the soul of Womanhood and so is the fashion and styling that I have woven into this post. For me a Soul is WHITE… Pure, Serene and Angelic. and my soul has something to say to you.
Let yourself free for some moments in your life. STOP! Stop doing whatever important work that you are doing. Loosen Up! Take a break. BREATHE! Breathe deep. Shun away all the chores, world’s burdens, duties and responsibilities and all the turmoils and chaos.
Just few moments for yourself. Only few… I promise!
Stand in front of the mirror. Devote a minute. No, don’t hurry, stay there for a while please.
When was the last time you actually took time out to gaze into your reflection for longer than a few seconds? I’m not talking about mechanically getting ready for work; or to hurriedly dress up before entering the kitchen or to put on make-up for an obligatory party. No! What I meant was when did you spare sometime out; out of love for yourself or to admire your beauty at leisure, to see those features; those worldly wise eyes; that crooked smile, that impish nose; those new found wrinkles and that grey speck in the hair.
Come let’s admire together… God’s Strongest and most magical creation.
Keep looking into the mirror and connect with your reflection. Admire her beauty, give her a well-deserved grin. Feel you are passing through the epidermal layers of your body and reach out to the Goddess that resides within.
She is residing inside of you. Crammed-up & locked in some lonely, deep, dark dungeon of an ancient Haveli in your heart, that was once lit with laughter of a young, bratty, carefree little girl. Today, no-one visits her. She is buried under the pile of worldly worries, duties & responsibilities that crowds your head-space today.
She is covered in the black residual angst of the busy, burdened heart but her fairy duststill sparkles from places beneath the soot.
She is unmistakably sad !!!
Sad, not because she is wronged or lacks the will to stand out or has seen only dark times. She is sad because she is forgotten! She is sad because that little girl who was once her friend has not visited her since long. That girl has grown up to be a Woman and has a world of her own.
In the fight to reach afar; to meet her responsibilities and never ending duties; in the race to be what is expected out of her and keeping everyone happy. She has no time for the Goddess within her. Slowly the goddess is dying, she’s calling out… calling out to, her only friend.
So have you looked into the mirror enough? Keep looking till the time you find that Girl-Woman.
Now that you have found both, understand they both reside inside you. Both are your reflections. All that, the Goddess inside you needs is a little of your time and love. She is the one who instills the aura in your persona and uniqueness in your being. Do not forget! She has been there all along; when you got scared at that extempore competition but still won; when you were banned to dance but you danced your heart out nevertheless; when you dreamily gave that speech on your farewell and talked about your dreams and desires, some still unfulfilled; when the chubby you joined the football team and everyone laughed. She was there when you first wore a saree which looked more like a lungi and even when you cooked your first half-burnt meal.
She is the one, the Goddess in you, the magic in you, who never lets you back down. She is the one who gave you that wand and the invisible crown and fairy dust in your hand. You went on to become the best possible self of you, a self you loved, a self who has perfected the art of wearing a saree; cooking a perfect meal and giving the best speeches ever.
Today, you are adept at all the worldly things and more. Yet the Goddess cries.
She cries for those days when you used to revel in your own self, never bothered about what anyone said or criticised. She yearns for those leisurely, fun-filled days when you used to do as you pleased; picked up what you fancied; said what you felt; with absolutely no care about what the world said and expected out of you.
She wants your love, your admiration, your adulation. She wants you to cut yourself some slack. She wants you to judge yourself a little less. She wants you to flaunt your self just the way you are. Whatever Shape, whatever Size, whatever Age, whatever Colour, whatever Height. She wants you not to constantly nudge & torture yourself into the race of being the best mother, best wife, best daughter, best sister. She wants you to rid yourself from the worry of these called tags of ‘a working selfish woman’ or an aimless ‘identity ridden homemaker’. More so, of being called a ‘man -eater widow’; ‘a lusty cougar’ or a ‘gold-digger’.
She wants you not to succumb to ever changing worldly beauty standards and feel a mis-fit in the world where everyone is judged; some called ‘blonde bimbettes’ or ‘sexy brunettes’; ‘size zeroes’ and ‘fat hoes’.To not follow fashion fads; or trends blindly; to not go by rules someone else made;to not order a pizza if you preferred dal- chawal; to not be a party animal out of obligation; to not judge or bitch about fellow sisters to be a part of any mighty social group; to not put on makeup if that’s not your style.
Rather, say what you feel; eat what you please; wear what you fancy; do what your heart tells you not your age, people or their social status.
She wants you to revel in the divinity of your Womanhood; to keep the Goddess alive. Shower her sparkly dust to everything you touch. She wants you to let the little girl live inside of the Woman you are now. To take pride in your likes & dislikes. To take time out for your own self and the little joys of life even if its for a few moments in a day.Whether its reading or music; laughing with friends over a cup of tea; shopping or dancing in the rain; staying in your pyjamas and torn- tees; whatever that makes your inner Goddess happy and thriving.
Coming to the outfit and styling part of the blog, ITS BEEN STYLED FOR ALL THE GODDESSES OUT THERE.
The dress i picked up for this post’s shoot is a basic cream-white, soft, crinkled woven cotton skater dress; it has a delicate lace detailing, bell-sleeves and cold shoulder. Its from the brand STALK BUY LOVE and is named Alabaster dress.
This outfit was love at first sight; even though i had pledged not to go for anymore whites; couldn’t resist! Guilty as charged! I have a thing for whites; i feel a little more of myself wearing it. This dress is comfortable and easy breezy and brings out the inner GODDESS in me; happy, dancing and confident in her skin. As much as this outfit goes by what’s trending, in terms of sleeves and cuts; i went in for this one because of the fabric, silhouette and colour. My perfect go-to outfit for summers, monsoons and fall.
My LWD-little white dress has become a wardrobe essential as it can be used and styled in multiple ways; It can be a perfect comfy travel outfit or can be worn for a brunch or an evening party. It can be highlighted with accessories and you’ll be good to go for an event.
For the first look i have teamed the outfit with just a white-floral tiara; for that angelic look; in dedication to today’s topic.
For the second look i have paired the dress with a quirky shirt and a broad tanned belt at the waist and tanned comfy pom-pom tie-up flats; perfect for travel; coffee date with friends; shopping or hopping places; a tanned travel bag is used to highlight the look at places.
The third look that i have styled is by using a floral, printed pure-chiffon dupatta with the dress, tied around the waist with a tanned belt and some black bangles just to add to the look and you are good to hop from an airport look to a party look!! (the outfit is too comfy to change, better style it up a notch and attend the party!)
